The tops both stand at over seven hundred metres above sea level with only fifty metres between them in size but their lush covering of rainforest foliage helps to disguise their volcanic roots and the tops are now suspended.

One of the very finest vantage points for snapping these classic landmarks is Mount Gimie - itself kind of a visitor attraction as it is the tallest mountain on St Lucia. For a different image, you may need to take a ship off the coast and admire the impressive sight of the Pitons as they rise from Piton Bay from a perspective at sea. You may feel that you might spend a few hours admiring this surprising sight, but St Lucia has much more to do and see.

At the close by fishing city of Soufriere you might head to the botanical gardens, or, for a very unique experience, what about checking out the "drive-in" Soufriere volcano - an active volcanic crater.

The island's warm climate ensures you can spot fruits like mangos and papaya growing while you explore, while the rain-forests are home to wild orchids and birds of shangri la. To sample some of the fresh items that grows on the island you might head to one of the open air markets.

Sports fans also have lots to keep them occupied while on vacation here, with underwater diving, snorkeling, golfing, tennis and sailing all favored entertainments to try your luck at.
