Beaches St Lucia
ADVERTISEMENT
St Lucia Beaches are different from one another. Some have grey sand,
some black sand and some white powdered sand. But one thing is common to
them. They are exotic beaches surrounded by awe inspiring views of the
vas verdant vegetation of this lovely island.
The beaches are also home of many St Lucia Resorts where you can spend
your All Inclusive vacations, where everything including air is
included.
We have been to St Lucia a few times during the years and
every time we like it more. The people are sweet and service oriented
and you cannot ask for a better service in the resorts.
You'll find that many beaches offer an array of Caribbean Sports ranging
from Caribbean snorkeling and scuba diving to Beach volley ball and
Horse Riding.
Here is a brief description by area -
ChocBay
This long stretch of sandy beaches and coconut palm trees is close to
Castries, the capital and the major hotels and resorts. This is an ideal
beach for families with small children due to its calm waters. Here you
can rent all kind of sports equipment. The Gable wood shopping center is
located not far from here.
RodneyBay
This area is well known for its long stretch of white sandy beach with
enough greenery for shade. There are many hotels lined through the beach
that provide rental equipment for all kind of Caribbean Sports. Going
north you keep seeing just sand and beach until you get to Pigeons
Island. This beach is very popular with locals on the weekend.
PigeonIsland
Pigeon Island is connected to the mainland with a causeway. It is now a
recreational area with beaches and picnic areas.

MarigotBay
I would say that this is the perfect Romantic Getaway in St Lucia. It is
bordered by green lush mountains and the beach is bordered by palm
trees. There are some deserted beaches there as well as anchorage for
Yachts.
Vigie
It is a popular beach with locals with great sand an lots of shade. It
is located parallel to the airport near Castries.
LabrelotteBay
A great beach situated between the Landings Resort and the East Winds
Inn.
Anse Chastanet
Home to several beaches resorts and a popular marine great for
snorkeling and all kind of sports.
Soufriere
It is located north of the city of the same name. From here you may have
an impressive view of the Pitons. The sand is dark and this beach is
popular with locals and tourists alike.
Cas En Bas
Due to its constant Trade Winds this beach is ideal for windsurfing. You
may rent a surfing board and even take lessons on this beach. Kayaks are
also available for rent.
Anse Cochon
Accessible only by boat, this beach has black volcanic sands and very
calm waters. The coral reefs present here are ideal for snorkeling.
Anse de Sables
This beach is looking out to the Maria Islands. It is very windy and
therefore great for surfing. The wind surf center of Club Aquarius is
located here.
Jalousie
This extremely beautiful beach is where the Hilton is located and where
we stayed last time. The beach use to be grey, but the hotel imported
white beach to cover them.
Anse Des Pitons
This is a beach to relax at the foot of the Pitons. It is crescent
shaped beach situated actually between the Gros Piton and the Petit
Piton
East Coast
As in many of the islands, the Atlantic Coast is windy and the beaches
are rough. I don't recommend swimming but it is worth the visit for the
spectacular views. Some of the beaches are difficult to reach with
regular vehicles. You may need a 4-wheel drive. This area is also
important for naturists and bird watchers.
Anse Louvet
You cannot drive to this beach. The walk from Desbarra is about a 3 hour
treck. Once you arrive you'll discover a beautiful secluded beach.
Watching the waves hit the cliffs is a show by itself. Here you are
surrounded by the La Sorciere Mountains.
DonkeyBeach
It is a unique experience because of the outstanding views. You have to
walk from Gros Islet, but the walk if worth it. I highly recommend a
visit to St Lucia, the land of the Pitons and home to the most beautiful
beaches in the Caribbean.
